Personal Work
Drawing on both commercial precision and artistic contemplation, Kenneth's body of work transcends the boundaries between commissioned photography and personal artistic exploration. While expertise in fashion, beauty, and lifestyle photography demonstrates technical mastery, it is his fine art sensibilities that reveal a deeper pursuit – one that seeks to uncover the extraordinary within the everyday.
Informed by formal training in fine art photography, these personal works become a meditative exploration of how we perceive and preserve the world around us. The lens moves with equal curiosity between the microscopic and the monumental, finding unexpected beauty in overlooked spaces and forgotten moments. Through careful observation and thoughtful documentation, each image invites us to question our assumptions about beauty, time, and memory – transforming ordinary subjects into contemplations of how we see, what we choose to preserve, and what these choices reveal about our human experience.
In each frame, whether commercial or personal, Kenneth's work reflects a deeper investigation of perception itself, asking us not just to look, but to truly see the layers of meaning and beauty that surround us.
IN MY SPACE
2007-2008, Diasec mounted archival pigment print, 28 x 41 cm, 41 x 41 cm (Edition of 5)
By 2007, after seven years of being a fashion and beauty photographer, my vision as a visual artist had become cloudy, dimmed by routine, processes, expectations and even pride. I yearned to see things afresh, rediscover beauty and picture the ordinary extraordinarily once again.
Using a variety of cosmetics and grooming products left over from my shoots, I scrutinized mixtures of solids and liquids up close with a macro lens. The table-top investigations birthed strange but yet familiar vistas, beauty amid chaos. Some filled with a sense of emptiness and desolation. And, others, a sense of wonderment and hope. My eyes twinkle with mirth even now as I reflect upon the journey and the discoveries. I have since regained my sight and that joy remains. I ponder about the notions of creation, beauty and perception. And, I ask what I am to do with what I see, because I know that I will be given more to witness in the seasons to come.
"A" is for Aviation
In 2009, I began photographing airplanes with intent and curiosity. While some might call it plane spotting, my approach often goes beyond the typical documentation of aircraft. Powered flight and the phenomenon of air travel have always fascinated me—not only the ingenuity and precision of these machines in motion but also their role in moving people across vast distances, connecting lives and places in ways once unimaginable. Over the years, I’ve captured countless images of aircraft, often in the clean, detailed style of a spotter, showcasing their form and structure. Yet, it’s the moments between arrivals and departures—the activity on the ground, the close-ups of intricate details, and the overlooked elements of aviation—that often hold the most intrigue, revealing a richer and more layered perspective of this world.
